  1. Lonely Lazarus
    Licked sawdust out of porcelain cups,
    Lingered like mermaids talking of murder.
    Fingers, like claws upon the beach
    Hold my head, wreathed with smoke.
    The universe is half-deserted, and
    You and I are etherised with oyster-shells.

  2. Teacups, a peach and a shawl
    Marmalade, pipes and a ball
    Trousers and tea
    Are talking to me -
    Ridiculous muttering, all

Platter of cakes upon the floor
I will eat them, and so much more
Yellow pasta in my bed
I will eat that too - that's what I said
Bowl of apples on a table
I would eat them all, but am not able
