Absurdist Lyrics

Puzzle 9: 90s Rock III

Difficulty:
Fun:
(based on 11 votes)

Ann Mary Weird, Absurdist Lyricist, is really just a plagiarist. She took the first verses of two songs by one well-known artist and split them into chunks of three, four or five words. Then she selected fragments, alternating between the two original verses, until she compiled a "new" verse. Can you identify the original '90s rock songs and the original performer - without resorting to a search engine?

For you I wish Chardonnay
It's a death in a theater, minutes too late
Your baby, I'm sure, won the lottery
And is she perverted like an old man?
I want you to fly in your version of me
And isn't it really excellent?
Mother died the next day
