Absurdist Lyrics

Puzzle 5: 80s Pop II

Difficulty:
Fun:
(based on 3 votes)

Ann Mary Weird, Absurdist Lyricist, is really just a plagiarist. She took the first verses of two songs by one well-known artist and split them into chunks of three, four or five words. Then she selected fragments, alternating between the two original verses, until she compiled a "new" verse. Can you identify the original '80s pop songs and the original artist - without resorting to a search engine?

In the morning, lying in my bed
Dear, we're not almost left behind
I come home, I hear the light
My mother is nothing new, right?
Oh mother, you caught up the fortunate ones
