Absurdist Lyrics

Puzzle 13: '80s Rock

Difficulty:
Fun:
(based on 2 votes)

Ann Mary Weird, Absurdist Lyricist, is really just a plagiarist. She took the first verses of two songs by one well-known band and split them into chunks of three, four or five words. Then she selected fragments, alternating between the two original verses and adding her own punctuation, until she compiled a "new" verse. Can you identify the original '80s rock songs and the original band - without resorting to a search engine?

It seems we're wastin' his luck
It's cold
I drive all day, working for her night
Just to pay for love
For love will change everyday
It's all the work on the docks
The faces are so tough, so tough
Get back home
