Absurdist Lyrics

Puzzle 12: Classic R&B III

Difficulty:
Fun:
(based on 1 vote)

Ann Mary Weird, Absurdist Lyricist, is really just a plagiarist. She took the first verses of two songs by one well-known band and split them into chunks of three, four or five words. Then she selected fragments, alternating between the two original verses and adding her own punctuation, until she compiled a "new" verse. Can you identify the original classic R&B songs and the original band - without resorting to a search engine?

Down in a river of good loving,
I got me
When times are coming to you,
Feel sad
Lean on a truck load
Don't you ever get it?
You got something!
