Absurdist Lyrics

Puzzle 11: Classic R&B II

Difficulty:
Fun:
(based on 1 vote)

Ann Mary Weird, Absurdist Lyricist, is really just a plagiarist. She took the first verses of two songs by one well-known band and split them into chunks of three, four or five words. Then she selected fragments, alternating between the two original verses, until she compiled a "new" verse. Can you identify the original classic R&B songs and the original band - without resorting to a search engine?

Sweet memories of a day
Another night stings
You've gone and I'm so lonely, but like a honey bee
Although you're never a honey bee
I often hear another favorite song
The one near your voice
